Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Connecticut
Tenant comes to house bolted by bank
My daughter and 3 girls rent a house
while attending college. Since it is
summer it is only visited once every
couple weeks to get mail. Today, the
girls found the house bolted with a
sign from the bank which apparently
means the landlord hasn't paid his
mortgage.
Do they have to pay rent since they
don't have access to the dwelling,
and how do they gain access to get
all their belongings

Re: Tenant comes to house bolted by bank
I would think that since they do not have access to the house, they do not have to pay rent. In terms of obtaining their belongings, I would contact the bank.
Mike.
