Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut
Buyer delaying house closing
At what point am I entitled to the buyer's downpayment and put the house back on the market? The buyer of my house appears to be stalling. The close was to be on 3/30. I have shown a willingness to fix the items she objected to on the day of the close. In the meantime, I am missing the prime selling season, if the buyer backs away. Per the purchase contract: If Buyer defaults and Seller is not in default, Buyer's deposits shall be paid over to and retained by Seller as liquidated damagaes...'' The question is when can the buyer be declared to be in default?

Re: Buyer delaying house closing
The answer would depend on the terms of the contract. I would have to take a look at the contract as well as any other relevant facts.
