Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

Refinancing on a co-signed vehicle

I had helped a friend secure a car loan by co-signing for him more than two years ago. When they put the loan through, it actually went in MY name with him as a cosigner. Many times I have asked him to try to refinance the car into just his name and he will not do so. Would I be able to refinance the car into just MY name? And if so, how do I go about getting the car back into my possession? If major repairs are needed to the car, am I able to take other legal actions?

Re: Refinancing on a co-signed vehicle

Depends on whose name the car is titled in. Yours? You can do what you like. But, the car could be titled in his name with you just on the note, then the answer is the car is his.
