Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Connecticut

sexual harassment

I was shopping at my local grocer, and a male employee approached me telling me how good I look when I come in to shop, gave me his phone number, described to me he knew where i lived, told me he wanted to take me out for drinks, offered to take me out shopping, basically made me feel very uncomfortable. I am disabled with MS and I do not have a vehicle the store is not even a 100 yards from my house so its really the only place thats convenient enough for me to shop for my groceries. I feel violated and uncomfortable to shop there now. I'm not sure what I should do but I feel something needs to be done. Do I have a case?

Re: sexual harassment

You may have a case, depending on other information that you need to provide. For instance, how many times has this occurred to you? If you need further help, you can email me at [email protected].

Re: sexual harassment

Did the man touch you? Did he make any threatening moves? Has he followed you home or followed you anywhere? Has he said anything lude, suggestive of a sexual nature or made any obscene gestures at you? If all the man has done is what you have described, it is not only unlikely that you have a case, but it is troubling that you think you might. I understand you feel victimized, but in order to have a case you must be able to find liability and injury. In this instance it seems clear from what you have written that you have not been injured in a substantial manner. It is unfortunate that we live in such a litigious society. Please understand I mean you no disrespect. I only intend to comment that I represent clients who have been sexually harassed and assaulted and clients who are being wrongfuly accused of such acts. It is very important to be careful in such matters.
