Child custody

My wife has a 7 year old son froma previous marriage, they never wed, never lived together. We have married for 2 years, and have 2 children of our own. In the event that my wife would die, who would get custody of the stepchild?

The final decision would be up to the court on a best interest of the child standard.

Is the biological father active in the 7 year olds life? Is there a current custody order?
