Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in District of Columbia
My son was assaulted in a bar and incurred approx. $5000 in medical bills and ambulance fees. Is the bar responsible for paying his medical bills? The DC police never pursued the crime.

It all depends. The bar may be responsible if there was inadequate security and prior incidents had occurred without a reasonable increase in security. Also, your son can try to sue the person involved in the fight and any accomplices.
Depending on the fact, your son can recover, pain, suffering, wage loss, and medical pain. Also, punitive damages may also be awarded.
