Legal Question in Criminal Law in District of Columbia

Sending naked photos.

am wondering, if I sent a nude

photo of myself where you can't see

my face to someone who contacted

me through a section of a website

where you must be 18 or over, they

also claim they are over 18 in an

email and knew the nude picture was

going to be sent am I doing anything

illegal?I'm also curious - what if that

person is lying and isn't over the age

of 18 did I break the law? I'm just

curious about all of this an wanted to

know the opinion from an attorney.

Also, if this is illegal what in a worse

case scenario could happen?

Re: Sending naked photos.

You could be charged with a few charges, one being contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and more serious child sex charges. Unfortunately, ignorance of the persons age is not a defense. Example: I know of a case, where the defendant met up with a "woman" in a club that cards people and you have to be at least 21 to get in. He had sex with her, she later claimed she was raped. The police DID NOT BELIEVE HER and realized she was lieing because she was scared of discipline by her parents for spending the night outside of her home. The woman was actually a 15 year old girl. The defendant was charged with first degree child sexual abuse. He was convicted, and he is now registered as a child sex offender.
