Contract Employee forced time off

Situation:

1. Contractor employee

2. Client is requiring that contractors take off and not bill time for 2 weeks at the end of the year - no reason given.

3. The business is not closed-regular employees are being allowed to work during that period.

4. Contractors are expected to return to the job on the next business day after the forced no-work period.

Question - is this action legal?

Why wouldn't it be? Independent contractors are not employees and have no special rights in regard to the issue you've raised unless such rights are specifically guaranteed under the client-contractor agreement(if there is such).

Furthermore, even if the so-called contractors under DOL (Department of Labor) regulations are actually part-time employees, the above answer would still apply.
