Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

E-commerce business law

First of all thank you for having a site like this availiable to answer thes questions. There doesn't seem to be a site this good anywhere else on the net. My question is quite simple I hope. Do I need to have a business license to start an online dating site? There would be no adult content or nudity. I would charge a fee to members who post their photos and profiles and also charge the visitors who would pay to see that information. I have only been living here for 2 months and as yet don't have any form of Florida ID. Thank you in advance for your response.

Re: E-commerce business law

Generally, all businesses must obtain and maintain an occupational license in the city and county where the business is located. In addition, you may want to incorporate to shield yourself from personal liability in connection with any claims that may be made in the future against the business. If you plan to operate your business as a sole proprietorship, and not a corporation or other entity, then you may be personally exposed to claims.

We can assist you in starting a corporation, LLC or other entity. If you wish to discuss this in more detail, please call my office at 305-445-0937.
