Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Non Profit misapplying funds

I am a board member of a nonprofit corporation. Several members have requested to review the financial books according to the florida 2005 statuets, but the Chairman of the Board refuses to acknoledge the request. What do we have to file in the local courts to have a court ordered review of the books. We feel funds are being misappropriated and need this information to process a claim with the state? Some other information is that this nonprofit has used another nonprofits 501(c)(3) to gain donations for fundraisers.

You may have the ability to conduct an audit of the financial records after filing a lawsuit to enable you to, in addition to other remedies, have the corporate financial records analyzed by an expert accountant.

Please feel free to call my office to discuss your situation and potential remedies further.
