Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
Violation of non-solicitation agreement
I unknowingly signed a non-solicitation agreement with my past employer and now have gone into business for myself. 12 of the 24 months have passed and now they say I am in violation of this agreement. How can I buy the remaining time and/or be released from a contract that I really didn't know what it ment until now? What is the going rate per month to offer? Is there any way out of this agreement due to me not knowing what I signed at the start of my employment with them? What options do I have? Is 24 months excessive? So far they have only sent me a letter (not from a lawyer) asking me to cease and desist. I am a young guy just getting started in business and did not know at the time what I signed and the recourse of this agreement please help. Thank you.
