Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Florida
discrimination by public school
My daughter, who attended a public high school, was denied participation in in an extracurricular sport because of the school's views toward private schools and recruitment. She has a younger sister who attends a private school. I have pursued this issue with the County School Board (with no success) and I have written statements from the public school athletic director that supports this statement. So, can discrimination based on a sibling's school choice be grounds for a suit?

Re: discrimination by public school
If this is actually what is happening, then it would appear that the school is violating your daughter's rights in some fashion. More facts would be needed. If you would like to pursue this further, feel free to contact my office.
