Legal Question in Technology Law in Florida
RipOffReport Posting
I like the concept of the site, but found a posting about myself on RipOffReport-dot-com. I am not a business nor is the posting related at all to fraud, consumer-related activities, etc. I've contacted the website editor, but haven't gotten any response. According the site, if someone posts inaccurate information, they expect me to make an account with them in order to post a rebuttal which gets attached to the post. If someone writes something as a bad joke or just plain malicious slander, it shouldn't be something I need to post a rebuttal for.
In cases like this, what are my legal options?
My address and phone number were posted along with the claims. While the person didn't get the address completely right, it's still close enough...
I normally wouldn't care, but the stuff posted under my name could affect me later on.

Your only real option is to sue the person that made the post. You can't win against the site. Let me know if you want to know more; I focus on Internet matters and also do litigation.
