Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

I am owed $255.18 by Brighthouse cable. Due to a error on their part I have not recieved my money. Its now been over 8 weeks of the "check is in the mail" yet I haven't received it. I have called 6+ times to get the same answer. How does a consumer go able getting a big corperation to pay what is owed to me?

First off, quit trying to do this by phone. Phone calls are only sometimes documented and rarely acted upon. If you are serious about getting your refund, then you need to start with a registered demand letter, with return receipt. Go to their website or sunbiz.org and get the name of an executive to send the letter to.

In your letter, be concise and professional. This is not a time to vent. Explain the problem in short terms, explain why you are entitled to your claim, and the amount of the claim. Take the emotional side out of this. This is about the money. What happened, why their liable, and how much. The whole demand letter should be about 2-3 paragraphs at the MOST and almost always less than one page.

If that doesn't work, send a follow up letter indicating that you would regret having to take this matter up with the public utilities commission. That should do the trick.
