Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
I was 2 wks late on my truck pyment. I had already mailed out a payment to the finance company and told them so. They called and told me the truck was in repo status already and would Not be cleared of the status unless I paid them an additional $500.00 right now, so I did. I did not know what else to do. (This is not the first time they have done this and last time I had to give them a minimum of $2000.00, which I had to borrow from a friend.) How legal is this?
Thank You
Mary

Mary, many times it is a scam. Look at your contract to see if it spells out the terms of the payments if late. If it does not or it does not match up, see a consumer lawyer in your area.
