Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

credit card debt

I opened a credit card back in 2000. My processing fee was 89 dollars and in my bank the money came out. The card worked for one day and it never worked again. I called the co. and they said there was an error and I would have to resend it in. The money came out but they wanted me to send it again. I never used the card again. One year later I received a statement for a sum around 41 dollars and I paid it. Now I have a debt collector calling me saying I owe 800 dollars when my limit was only 400. Please let me know the statute for this.

What statue? It sounds like an error made by the credit card company based on what you say. You need to explain the facts to them and show proof of payment. You can dispute the amounts owed and they have 30 days in which to provide proof of the amounts due to you.
