Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I am in credit card debt which has been turned over to a debt collector. The debt collector keeps calling and I decided to do the responsible thing and answer, they asked me to verify my birthday and last 4 digits of my social security number which I did. Then they wanted bank information over the phone to start setting up payments which they said would freeze the interest on the card debt. I asked for something in the mail from them and they said they only did things on the phone, they kept insisting on my bank info which I did not give to them, I finally hung up. Now I am worried that they have my birthdate and last 4 digits, is there anything they can do with that information that will hurt me?

I would not recommend you give them bank information. You should consult a consumer lawyer to see what can be done to assist you. See www.ConsumerLawyerHelp.com to get names of consumer lawyers in your area by going to the NACA site.
