Can a creditor use information from payment by personal check to access one's ac

I would like to pay off a debt in collection, but would like to do so without giving them any unecessary information and still have a document that shows they have accepted this payment to provide the Credit Bureaus. What is the best form by which to do this--personal check, money order, cashier's check or some other method?

If you do not wish the information on your personal check to be exploited, then pay by money order or bank check or cash. Checks or money oder to be from a source other than any bank you use. If by cash, be sure to obtain a receipt.

The creditor would need a court order/judgment before attaching a personal checking account for a debt. However, it is in your best interest if you want to protect your account information not to give the creditor any document that would include that information such as a personal check.
