my daughter has a car that was financed back in september and now the dealership is asking for the car back saying that they couldn't find someone to finance it. I gave them 2000 down payment. Is this legal

This depends on what the contract says and if they have a right under the written terms of the contract to rescind the agreement. Read the contract.
