a collection company is trying hold my wife salary to pay for a debt that is more than 7 years old. She receive some papers from the circuit court and also the place where she works receives those papers. What can we do about it?

The only way a collection company can do anything to your wife's salary is if they obtained a judgment. If so, a judgment is good for 10 years if a certified copy is recorded in the public records of the county in which it was entered and thus well within the statute of limitations. You need to review this matter with a qualified attorney who can advise you of your legal rights and obligations.
