Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Medical bills, Blue Cross, & Debt Collector
I have some unpaid mediacal bills which Blue Cross was supposed to partially pay. I pay 15% copayment, however the Doctor's office claims I owe over $4000, has not sent me an itemized bill and has referred me to collections (in July 2001). The Debt Collector Agency has called and very nastily said they are taking me to court to garnish my wages AND that I have been receiving & cashing Blue Cross checks. (I received only 1.) I called the Doctor's Office to try & arrange for payments and was told ''No, because now the collection agency will get 30% of the money.'' I was also refused the agency's fax number when I called and rudely hung up on twice. What can I do?

You should consult with a competent creditors' rights or consumer law atty. Your rights may have been violated. If you are sued immediately see an atty. Do not suffer a default. To review each of the points in your question would take far too much room. If you desire, call me.
