Re: service fee for canceling cell service

It all depends on your contract. If its not in the contract, I do not think they can refer you to the website. If they will not budge and its not in your contract, dispute the debt and see if they sue you. Or, you can retain counsel, which would cost more, and try to get them to drop it that way.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

Generally, any cancellation fee would be per contract and a separate contract is usually required for each phone (number). Their requirement for a payment for each line would not be unreasonable if it is before the end of your contract. This allows them to recoup their investment in your phones which were probably either sold to you at a deep discount or given to you for free.

They do not have to accept a payment plan just because you want one. If the parties cannot agree on payment, they have a right to send your obligation to collection.
