Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Sued over credit card debt

I received a phone call today about a debt. I was informed last year that the company wanted to take me to court over the debt. I responded that while I did not intend to leave the debt unsatisfied, I was not in the position to repay the debt at that time. Never heard another word about ti until today. Now I'm being told they're suing me for the origianl debt plus roughly $3000 more. What are my options? I really don't have and cannot get $8000+ . My ex was absolved of responsibility when we divorced, through the fault of my not very good lawyer.

Re: Sued over credit card debt

You will have to negotiate or fight in court. If the debt is valid and the extra is interest, late charges and attorneys fees, your best bet will be to negotiate a deal.
