Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I need help with understanding the best decision to make on papers I received yesterday. The papers said To compel and Sanctions,Request for Productions and Notice of Service of Interrogatorries. I have talked with this company several times(Marcadis and Associates of Tampa,Fl) but to no avail we have not come to an agreement this case was closed because of failure to appear and they had reopen and I offered them a settlement of 3000.00, when the original credit limit was 1500.00 and I ran it up to 1200.00 I was making payments on it but the intrest was eating me up so I couldn't afford to make the payments anymore. They said no to the settlement and said they wanted 5000.00 but i didn't have it so they said my only other alternative was to pay the balance of 9900.00. I think that is outrageous and I can't afford it and the account will continue to draw intrest while I pay it off.

When was your last payment or purchase? If more than 4 years, statute of limitations may have run. If that is the case, you may owe nothing. Is this a collection company?
