My brother was recently incarcarated and has been told that inmates may receive time off their sentence for good behavior. Is this true, do inmates get time off for good behavior. Thank you

To some extent. Most county jails give inmates at least 5 days a month credit, but it can be taken away for bad behavior. If it's prison, they must serve at least 85% of their sentence. DOC determines this and it may also be taken away for bad behavior.
