Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Florida

wrongful accusation of shoplifting

i recently was accused of shoplifting after purchasing items, no detectors going off, and then having my personal bags searched (not checking recepiet or items in store bags) and then being innaproriately padded down. i then was taken back in store where i showed where i placed the item accused of stealing, and once again i was searched and padded down inside the store. then they proceded to suggest personal items in my bag was stolen. and after 10 20 mins of being humiliated infront of other customers by being searched twice and then talked down on by a group of three employess i was let go. my question is, what actions may i take agaisnt the store and its employess for thier blatant disregard for policy and their obvious desire to discriminate against an indivdual that sticks out in their community in which innaproptiate actions are always targeted against this certain group of people. Especially when there was no probable cause for this accusation. thank you.

Re: wrongful accusation of shoplifting

It sounds like you could have a claim if you are a member of a protected class based upon race, etc. Call me if you want to discuss in further detail.
