Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I have a child support order in Florida. The mother has got the amount increase several times due to financial changes. I have now requested the amount be revisited. I filled out paperwork and mailed it in. After 2 months , I received a letter stating my child support will be decreasing. Now another month later , I receive a letter from a lawyers office amount setting a trial date. Is that normal ? Does this mean she hired a lawyer ? Should I now look at hiring one ? I don’t remember all this and this amount of time when my child support was increasing.

did you receive a letter from the Dept of Revenue requesting you attend a hearing officer's hearing? This is so that the child support amount will be decreased. I suggest you make her file a Financial Affidavit as well so that the Judge can make a determination on the income. Also request her to complete the std interrogatories so that you will have all the financial records that she states is included in the financial affidavit. Go to
"Florida Family Law Forms" - the forms are there for your use with instructions.
Recommend you call the attorney who sent you the letter; ask who are they representing? DCF/Dept of Revenue sometimes retains an attorney to present matters to the Judge. If that attorney is retained to assist you cooperate fully. If the attorney is representing your former wife I recommend you see an attorney ASAP.
