Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Daughter spending grandchilds support

My Daughter gave my husband and I legal gaurdianship of my granddaughter when my daughter was sent to jail for Bad checks. She is now out of jail and is cashing the child support checks that I feel belong to her Daughter whom we still have legal garudianship of here in Virginia . My Daughter is in florida and the childs dad has paid 500.00 total

in child support, and my daughter has sent only 200.00 of that.

Is there anything I can do without putting my grandaughter

through a big battle about her Mom spending her childsupport? My granddaughter is only 10 but is very wise and knowa her mom is not sending her the money her dad is mailing to her for her care. Plus we are paying for all medical insurence and other things and as grand parents

what do we do to take care of this child who is being done an injustice by her mom?

Sincerely

Grandparent

Re: Daughter spending grandchilds support

Advise him in writing, certified mail, to send you the support since you are the guardian. A court order may be necessary.

Depending on the legality of the guardianship you would be able to contact child support enforcement and have the checks diverted to you. Send a copy of the papers to the department of revenue and they will switch things. Please call our office if you have questions.
