Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am divorced in the State of Florida. I share custody of my children approx. 50% of the time. My question is this; During extra-cirricular activities which we share responsibility in both costs and logistics with the children (Scouting for example) do I have the right to attend with my children WITHOUT my ex-spouse present on the days which are my responsibility? For example, we each agree to take the child to every other meeting, yet ex-spouse shows up on my scheduled day to also participate.

I wish to have free and unencumbered time with my children on my time. The presense of my ex-spouse creates an atmosphere of tension that the children feel.

Any advise you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

The days in which you have visitation with the children you do not have to share that time with your ex-spouse. Hence the agreed upon 50/50 schedule on the days that he has the kids he should attend scouting not on the days that you have the kids.

Have you discussed this issue with the ex spouse. I suggest you state that the children feel the atmosphere of tension If the ex spouse is truly wanting the children to be happy and in a stress free environment, then the ex spouse can stop attending on the days that you have the children and vice versa. Otherwise, you will have to continue as you are unless you have a court order stating otherwise.
