Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My ex-wife and myself share joint custody of our 12 year old. My son begs me to tell his mother an excuse for not bringing him there but I cant do that. He doesn't like her lifestyle choices (none that I would find of a concern) and just doesn't want to deal with her anymore. I don't know what to do and I feel bad for him but I do not want to break the custody order and risk any consequences. Can he just choose not to see her anymore? Is there a certain age when he can make that choice?

In Florida children have the same rights to choose as a dog or cat - None.

Kids do not get to choose so you have to comply with the order as written. Perhaps you all could benefit from family counselling. Court is not the answer here.
