If I give someone power of attorney over my child does that give them any right to take my child from me?

No. You might want to talk to a lawyer face to face about this power of attorney. And whatever you do, don't download some form off the internet.

I agree with my colleague Barry Kaufman. These internet forms are truly not ideal. If you are going to be away for a long period of time there are other options that you can do.
