Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

The Judge ordered an guardian ad litem for my Modification of Custody and stated that both me and my ex would share the cost of the guardian, however I am unable to come up with the $750.00 for my share of the Guardian and the Guardian will not meet with me until I paid her the $750.00 in full. Is there any motion I can file for relief from this $750.00 - I mean this should be about the welfare of my children not about whether I can pay that money or not. Please I need help.

On the other hand, isn't the welfare of your children worth $750? You can ask the judge to have your ex pay for the entire fee for the guardian, but that will probably only happen if 1) your ex filed the petition for modification and 2) your ex makes a whole lot more money than you do. Also, if the judge has already addressed the issue of who is going to pay for the guardian ad litem, and didn't just automatically sign an order splitting the fee without considering who could afford it, it's doubtful the judge will reconsider the issue, but you can always try. The truth is, both family court and children are expensive. Many cases are lost because people can't afford the fight.

Pay the $750.00 - your children are worth it.
