Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I'm married and I wish to purchase a house without my husband. He owes back taxes from before we were married. Will the IRS be able to place a lien on my house because we're married?

The homestead is exempt from forced sale by creditors in Florida. You may not be able to get a house without including your husband, because a mortgage money is very tight now, but if you are determined, you may be able to eventually find a way to put the house in your name only, as a married person, and get the mortgage in both names.
