Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Military Spouse Questions/Concerns

Looking for clarification and some advice.

Married 13 years, no children now or prior, spouse will retire 2007 with 26 years. If divorced, Entitlements ? - 1/2 retirement accrued ONLY during the marriage? Continued medical benefits of ANY sort? Does a military member have to file for a divorce in his ''home of record''?(In this case, Nevada)Our state of residence is Florida.

What is a Marital Seperation Agreement, its purpose?

Thank you for your time to this bullentin board. I have been reading for 2 days and have learned much!

Re: Military Spouse Questions/Concerns

If you and wife have lived here (Pensacola) for more than 6 months you can file here. You are entitled to 1/2 of retirement accrued during marriage. I believe you are entitled to continued med coverage because you were married longer than 10 years while in service, you can check that with Navy legal. A MSA (marital settlement agreement) is a written settlement of all issues between yourself and your spouse. My name is Tom Wheeler, I'm Mr. Holman's partner, plese call if we can help. 850-435-6909.
