Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I'm paying bills at home, no longer attend high school, work just about every day and am 17 in Florida. Can I move out of my abusive fathers home? I have bills in my name to prove I pay them, plus my father is on felony probation and does not have a job, so I'm th eone supporting myself, him, my 6 younger siblings and my half sisters mother. I have 6 months before I am 18, but I'm worried that if I stay here and start refusing to pay for his bills he will abuse me into doing it. Please help.

Legally you are a monir until such time as the court emancipates you or until you are 18. You can either wait or file a petition for emanciptation (which is never granted). Contact my office for free consultation 727-446-7659

Terribly sorry to hear of your situation. I suggest you contact the Dept. of Children and Family Services and explain to them what is going on in your house. They may be able to provide housing for you elsewhere until you can afford your own place. Check with your clergy as well. If you wish to file for emancipation, please contact the legal aid services in your area - they too have a lot of information that will help you in gaining your independence.
