Relinquish parental rights

My ex husband has filed a modification for child support.He has not payed anything for a year.Also attatched to the modification he hand wrote a letter stating that he wants to relinquish is rights and return full custody to me.He is 21000.00 behind in child support and is trying to get social security and disability for health reasons.What can I do?

First, obtain a money judgment against him for arrearages. Then record a certified copy in the county of his residence.Obtain a Writ of Garnishment and locate any source of income or banking relationship that he may have. It may be necessary to take his deposition to determine details. Do not agree to let him terminate his parental rights. He cannot divorce his children.

You may never collect a cent, but dont make it easy to let him off.

Parents are obligated to support their children. He cannot give full custody to you without your consent. Use the local office of appropriate state agency to pursue the deadbeat dad (as I assume you are now). File Motion For Contempt, obtain judgment, file it, and pursue him wherever you can find an employer, bank account, property, etc.
