Legal Question in Medical Leave in Florida

Leave to visit my Mother

I am working part time in a company of 700 employees.

I have worked there for three months. I have a Mother

who is 94 years old, and cannot visit her as my

employer will not give me the time off. I have asked and

have been told I would have to resign. I am in Florida,

and she is in Connecticut.

If you have only been working part-time for three months I do not believe you are eligable for coverage under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). You may want to consult your specific employee handbook to see if there are other options. For additional information on the FMLA you can go to www.dol.gov as the Department of Labor enforces that law.
