Legal Question in Medical Leave in Florida

Taking legal guardianship of newborn

I live in jacksonville florida and have been at s.E. Toyota for 12 years. I am now on fmla for the birth of my nephew whom i am getting legal guardianship. I told h.R. I could not afford to miss 6 - 12 weeks of pay being that i will have dr.Appts. And legal appts.

H.R. Has completely taken bonding with my baby out of fmla. And is requesting proof of all appts. I never said i didn't want to bond. Is this legal in florida?

Re: Taking legal guardianship of newborn

You should likely get 12 weeks unpaid leave under FMLA for this situation. If not, you should contact a local attorney or my office to discuss further.
