Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

country club resignation

I am currently an equity member of a private country club. My membership has been on the resale list for the past 2 1/2 years and is at least another 5 years from being sold. We are moving out of the area soon and the membership will be of no value to me. The by-laws of this club call for a member to continue to pay monthly fees until his membership is finally sold. I would like to simply give back my membership certificate as a gift to the club and relenquish any further claims to the ''equity'' involved, but have been told the club management can pursue collection of any fees due until the membership is sold.

What is your opinion?

Re: country club resignation

It depends upon the agreement you signed. You need to consult with an attorney in your area and have the agreement looked over along with anything else you may have such as the bylaws.
