Determining which court to file a civil lawsuit

How does the amount of money at issue in a civil case determines which court a plaintiff would initially file a lawsuit?

Florida Statutes 34.01 and 26.012

(1) $5,000.00 and under = small claims court

(2) More than $5,000.00 and less than $15,000.00 = County Court

(3) If the amount exceeds $15,000.00 then it is circuit court.

When computing the above amounts do not include interests, filing fees, or attorney fees.
