Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Motion to Enfoce Settlemet

My husband sued his partner when he found out the partner had misappropriated hundreds of thousands of dollars. It got down to VERBAL settlement discussions in our attorneys office in December. We never saw the contract written up until after the opposing party's council had made changes and our attorneys said No. Nothing was ever signed. Opposing council filed motion to enforce and the judge said Yes a verbal agreement is binding. Now we have to abide by the settlement and pay opposing counsel's REASONABLE(?) fees. How will that work- will they lien our properties, make us take out a loan, garnish wages? Should we increase our expenses at this time?

Re: Motion to Enfoce Settlemet

You have a lawyer and you should speak with him or her about this. He has all the facts. You would be ill advised to rely upon a response to a short paragraph as opposed to your lawyer's advice.
