Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

What Recourse?

Small business owner posts contact information on an internet industry directory. Business owner moves two years later but forgets to change the contact information on the website. Potential customer looks into the business and finds that the address is not valid (because small business owner moved) and then emails the police in the town asking them to check it out (All potential customer says is ''I searched and found out that the address claimed by the company is not valid. Can you make sure this address is right''). Potential customer takes email sent to police and posts it on the industry website the same day. Other potential customers can see this email and it might cause them to not want to do business with the small business owner. What legal recourse does the small business owner have?

Re: What Recourse?

Have your lawyer send a cease and desist and you can also contract the website owner demanding they take down the potentially defamatory materials.
