Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida
I am currently residing at the howard johnson hotel in port richey, fl. On monday I returned to the hotel to find my vehicle gone. The front desk associate reassured me that I would have been notified prior if the hotel was having it towed. But was unwilling to look at security cameras to see if it had been stolen. I was told to call back in the morning to speak with the manager. I spoke with pasco sheriffs office and they told me it had been towed and reported as abandoned. Called the front desk back and the associate told me he would have the manager call my room asap. Spoke with the towing company while waiting and since they had closed before I got back to the hotel, they couldn't even give me a price until the next morning. Manager finally calls, admitted they had the wrong room number associated with the vehicle. She didn't know I had already spoken with the maintenance guy about having a flat tire. He said as long as I was still here it was fine. And since I don't use that vehicle for work I left in the parking spot. My brother picks me up in the box truck we use. The manager apologized and assured me my vehicle would be returned by the following day. Two days later no vehicle and the manager will not return my calls. What can I do? I can not afford to pay hundreds in towing fees for their mistake.

Hello, you might consider having an attorney write a demand letter for you. It sounds like the company is at fault and has already admitted as such so I'm not sure why there is a delay. If they fail to respond or pay your demand you might consider filing a small claims action against them. Another alternative will be to reach out to the local news agency and put them on blast for this mixup and failure to rectify. Hope this helps.
