Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

statue of limitations

Any input would be appreciated. In August of 2001 I was working for a land developer & utility owner. He paid me cash for each hour worked for various misc. tasks. However, I was never paid for 11 hours of labor, several of my personal hand tools were never returned and 2 lawns cut were never paid to me. He has avoided me at all costs. The latency in my decision to attempt to collect was based on ''it is not worth the trouble''. As time has passed I get insensed at the picture of me knee deep in raw sewage, in a 8 foot hole/hand dug as I repaired a ruptured sewer line for him. Now it ''is'' worth the trouble and a matter of principle because this individual has a history of this behavior. Thanks in advance.

Re: statue of limitations

Assuming you can demonstrate the hours you worked that were not paid for, you may want to contact the US Department of Labor's local office in your community to file a complaint/greivance. Keep in mind that if you did not declare your wages the call to the Department of Labor may come back to cause you some trouble. Good luck.
