h 1 visa

yes in april of 2009 I will apply to come here on an H 1 visa from india then if I get approved for visa how soon after can I fly to usa. Do I have to do an interview first? I am in India now.

If the H-1B petition is approved, you will have to apply for an H1B visa at the USA Consulate in India. If approved, you will be authorized to work for your American employer starting from October 1st, the earliest date (or as was requested by your employer).

If you have an approved H-1B Visa Petition, you will have to attend an interview at the US Embassy or Consulate for issuance of your H-1B visa. You will be able to travel to the US any time during the validity period of your visa.
