can my ex husband, who is a green card holder from england, get money from me as i was his original sponsor for his greencard?

Yes, when you signed the Affidavit of Support you promised to reimburse to the government if he applies for welfare, and promised to provide for him at the level of 125% of the federal poverty guidelines.

Divorce didn't end these obligations.
