Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida

My mom's case has been approved (sponsorship of a relative). She has received her 6 month visa, but her immigrant visa says that she would be a permanent resident for one year! what does that mean? Will she be able to apply for a job with that visa?

She will receive a green card by mail upon her arrival in the USA as a new immigrant. When her visa is stamped, it will bear a stamp with a temp validity of one year. Yes, she can apply for a job and work using this visa and a stamp. However, a green card is usually mailed within a few weeks after arrival.
