What status do you plan to change to?

If you've been out of status for 8 months, you can NOT apply for a change of status to other non-immigrant status.

There are a very few exceptions where an out-of-status person can either adjust or change/extend status.

Of course, there is a filing fee for almost any application with the USCIS.
