Restitution to Insurance Company
My husband is paying monthly restitution to an insurance company for damages. He has been paying for almost six years. As long as he is paying restitution he will be on probation. We want to move elsewhere within the state and don't want to carry this burden with us. Is there anyway for an attorney to contact the insurance company to see if they would consider what they have received so far as payment in full and release the debt so my husband can be taken off probation?

They can't extend your husband's probation indefinetly just to pay restitution. If the offense was a 3rd degree felony for which he was put on probation, then they can only keep him on for 5 years. After the 5 years is up, then the court loses jurisdiction. It depends on how long the court legally has jurisdiction based on the case.
