Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Company Closed WARN ACT?
I worked for a company that had appx. 30-40 employees at the corporate office. We had over 250 branch offices throught the country. All employees were W-2. The company closed with no warning. We were given 1 week per year of service in severance pay. I had just started witht the company 3 weeks before they closed. Are we covered under the WARN act? Thank you

Re: Company Closed WARN ACT?
The WARN Act applies to companies with 100 or more employees. Employees who work less than 20 hours per week do not count. Employees who have been with the company less than 6 months do not count. It is hard to say whether the company is covered based upon the information you have provided.
